Mix pigments. Discover colors. Automate everything.

Red + Blue = Purple Red + 3 Blue = Indigo

Huebrew is a small factory game about paint. You start with three pigments — red, green, and blue — and a queue of orders asking for colors you don't have yet. So you build: pipes to move paint around, mixers to combine it in just the right ratios, and eventually a whole factory that turns three basic inputs into shades you didn't know had names.

What you'll be doing

  • Building paint factories — tiny and tidy or huge and tangled, both work
  • Mixing pigments in 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 ratios to hit exact colors
  • Discovering colors: you can mix almost anything, but 138 of them have names — and every recipe you find gets saved, so you never have to reinvent Olive twice
  • Untangling your layouts with underground pipes, reservoirs, inverters, and white generators
  • Working through a structured career mode, then building whatever you want in the freeform Workshop
  •  Experimenting without fear: undo, rebuild, tear it all down — no penalties, ever

The career takes a little over 4 hours. The Workshop — as long as you want.

 Feedback

Huebrew is complete — you can play it start to finish today, and the Workshop will keep you busy long after the career is done. But there's plenty of room for this game to grow, and where it goes next depends on the people playing it. If the progression drags, a mechanic isn't explained well, or something breaks — and especially if there's something you'd want more of — leave a comment below. I read every one.

You've got the start of something good here for sure. I can tell this is one of those games I'm going to go back to when I need something to chill out with.

I think there's a few things that could use some tweaking.

The "build wide" mentality doesn't work as well when I'm constantly needing to reroute pipes to build new combinations. Since pipes can only carry one color and don't automatically empty once the delivery goal was met, even building a series of machines to mix things in stages meant automatically clearing all of the pipes. I found it less tedious to just erase everything and start from scratch a few times.

This is compounded with empty pipes automatically snapping and combining with neighboring pipes. I had a few misclicks from time to time that resulted in an entire chain of pipes becoming connected, and unfortunately undoing didn't fix it (this was from the browser version, playing on firefox, in case that makes a difference!)

After I got to chapter 5 things started feeling repetitive. Especially when I was remaking colors that I had already made, delivered, and torn down to make room for a new color.  And at that point every device was unlocked, so i didn't feel like I was doing anything new or interesting.

Minor things: the music got a little repetitive after a while, some variety would be nice!

A blueprint or copy/paste feature would be really useful.

Being able to mirror the mixers to have the 2- or 3- part inputs on the opposite side would be nice.

Overall I enjoyed what you've made so far. It's nice and casual and relaxing with the ability to make some satisfying assembly line chains. Keep it up!

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! I really appreciate it, and I’m glad you enjoyed the game. I’ll definitely take your suggestions into account for future updates. ❤️

NGL, this turned out to be way more fun than I expected. Give us more!

Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?

Insanity is doing the color Teal...

same fucking thing...

over and over and over again expecting...

shit to change...

That.

Is.

Teal.

The first time somebody told me that, I dunno, I thought they were bullshitting me, so, boom, I did it.

The thing is... Teal was right.

And then I started seeing, everywhere I looked, everywhere I looked all these fucking Teal's, everywhere I looked, doing Splat...

over and over and over and over again thinking 'this time is gonna be Steel blue'

(Game is great tho!)

Teal diff

Fun paint automation puzzle: mix colors, build factories, zero stress.
